Frisbee Games to Play
A Frisbee is a simple disc that is a lot of fun to play with. Because of its shape, it spins horizontally when you throw it and it stays in the air for a long time, as it is made to maintain loft. However, there is much more than you can do with a Frisbee than just throw it around on a beach. Over the years, a number of games have surfaced; some are for teams and some for individuals.
Bocce Frisbee
This is a game that is best played with multiple Frisbees and requires a modicum on skill and control. It can be played in teams or as an individual competition. The objective of the game is to throw the Frisbee as close to a predetermined object as possible without actually touching it. If you only have one Frisbee, you will need to use stones or other objects as markers to track where each attempt landed and therefore gauge who the winner is.
Frisbee Golf
This is a game that has grown in popularity over recent years. It is best played at a park or in a large yard where you can move about quite a bit. Before starting the game, players set up a course using trees, buckets, or other objects as the “holes.” These should be marked so that all players understand which object is to be hit in what order. Then, like golf, players take turns trying to hit the mark. Scores are tracked like golf; the number of strokes it takes each player to reach his mark adding up to determine his or her final score. High score loses.
Tag Frisbee
Tag Frisbee is a team competition. Depending on how many players you have, you should divide up into two or three teams. One team will be “It.” The goal is to play a Frisbee game of throwing the disc from one team to another, keeping it from getting into the hands of any players on the “It” team. If an “It” player catches the Frisbee, the team of the person who threw the Frisbee is now “It.”
Ultimate Frisbee
This team competition has become overwhelmingly popular, with adult and youth leagues popping up all over the country. The game pits two opposing teams against one another, with the ultimate goal being to pass the Frisbee into the opposing team’s end zone, much like American football.
