Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike
Electric Dirt Bike
After years of dreaming of a dirt bike and hitting the woodland trails I decided on investing some time and effort into researching an alternative to petrol fueled bikes at a reasonable price that was fun to ride and could take a bit of stick on the trails. Having been a downhill mountain biker for the last six years motor cross seemed to be the next natural progression.
Being my first purchase of a motorbike I didn’t want any thing too aggressive and fast to ride, my next move was to look into the engine size. This is when I stumbled across the Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket Electric Motocross Bike is the last place I thought I would be looking. An electric bike, this raised questions in my mind such as it could not possibly go that fast and is it a con to make you buy more batteries at a high price because they run down so quickly?. Obviously these questions needed answering my so I researched electric motocross bikes even further.
Upon arrival I used the tools included to assemble the bike, this was done with ease and the instructions are clear and concise. The bike was ready to go I did not think the companies statement of an extremely quiet motor was going to stand up up but to my amazement it just floated away with a buzzing sound. The motor is as quiet as the company quote and I have never once had a complaint from my family or the neighbours when I go to college first thing in the morning or arrive back late at night.
This really does make a difference I have known friends with scooters that you could hear five minutes before they even arrived in quiet country places.
There has also been conflicts of interest when it came to motorbikes as they need to be stored away from the elements and also can create a bit of mess (oil, petrol etc). In comes the electric bike free of petrol and utilizing electric energy.
Comfort
The frame suits a diverse size and age of people it is strong and sturdy and well designed to support the weight in the needed areas. The suspension is of a good quality and really proves itself on the woodland trails and provides comfort and satisfaction. With regular oiling the forks have stayed in good condition, just always remember to clean the crevices after muddy trail sessions.
Safety
The absence of a fuel tank makes it safer for younger riders and stops the hassle of having enough fuel and money in case of emergency situations. Having said that you do have to be careful and monitor the time because the nature of a battery is that it runs out. On the few occasions this has happened I have wheeled the bike home with ease due to its light frame.
Terrain Types
Over the years I have rode everywhere on my MX650 bike and covered nearly every kind of terrain this country has to offer. My absolute favorite terrain has to be woodland trails, the trees towering over you and the tranquil feel of the surroundings. I could not wait to take it for a ride in my local woods. As with any bike the suspension needed wearing in but the ride was smooth and the frame and forks happily took the roots, rocks, bumps and jumps that were scattered through out the woods. I have rode it on the road briefly but only en route to the woods. The speed can easily get to 18mph plus when you are travelling on straight and smooth roads. It can hold its own on dirt jumps and even quite large jumps do not exert excessive stress on the frame/ suspension.
Pros
- Price- very competitive price others I looked at on ebay were on average a lot more expensive with very little detail about the bikes, how they work and the key features.
- Free postage!!! I could not believe it all of the other companies expected either a fortune to deliver the bike or for me to collect it some of these bikes were over 200 miles away so this was not an option for either delivery or collection. The delivery time was within the time quoted and the bike arrived in perfect condition.
- The Razor MX650 Electric Dirt Bike is Environmentally friendly- This meant a lot to me I am always looking for ways to reduce my impact on my surroundings such as exhaust pollution which does no favours for the local environment and my lungs as well.
- Easy to charge- quick and easy leave it charging over night and ready to roll in the morning. The
- Battery is also rechargeable which is another sustainable feature and helps make it a one time purchase (apart from the hundreds spent on clothing, helmet etc. haha).
- Comfortable for riding- the seat and frame suit a range of riders and all of my friends whom have ridden it say the same.
Cons
- Tyre quality- the tyres wore down fairly quickly a feature that I think they reduced on quality to keep the overall costs of the bike down. Saying this though the rest of the bike ie. the frame and suspension (which count the most) are without flaw.
In conclusion I feel that the MX650 Electric Dirt Bike is a worthy purchase and has handled all kinds of terrain from woodland trails, courses with jumps and some pretty gnarly downhill tracks. After two years of hard use it is still in very good condition and ready to be passed on to my little bro who is just about ready to hit the trails.
We don’t sell it but great places like Amazon sells this product at affordably low prices and has tons of real customer reviews from the hundreds of customers that tried it. However, they often sell out as these popular Kids Dirt Bikes, so if you see it in stock and at a good price it is worth grabbing, because they are generally the cheapest, it often sells out quickly, so don’t think about it for too long.
